Influence of farmyard manure fertilisation to maize (Zea mais L.) on net nitrogen mineralisation, dynamics of soluble nitrogen fractions in the soil and nitrogen losses from shallow soils under the conditions of the humid climate of central Slovenia

The majority of arable land of central Slovenia is characterised by shallow brown soil - Hapludoll (Mollisol) and a humid (1400 mm precipitation a-1), temperate climate (8,3°C long-term yearly average temperature). Farmyard manure (FYM) is regularly used for field crops; however, not much is known about the nutritional value of FYM, especially regarding nitrogen in this specific condition. Therefore, the dynamics of mineral as well as soluble organic N derived from soil and FYM was studied in the area (46°N, 14°E, 370-380 m a. s. l.).
