Meer over het boek
Early in my career, I focused on science, studying biology and concluding with a postdoctoral position. To achieve our dream of a self-sufficient lifestyle, my husband and I bought a 19th-century farmhouse in Bavaria. We taught ourselves essential skills and worked for over 30 years on extensive renovations, learning to raise both vegetables and children. Alongside this, I held various roles, including content manager and web designer. My artwork centers on the themes of humanity and nature, deeply inspired by the natural and spiritual beauty of the Bavarian countryside and European landscapes. When I encounter a captivating natural scene, I capture it in a photo. At home, I use Photoshop to create a collage with the landscape as a backdrop, adding figures and objects that resonate with my feelings about the scene. I then transfer this collage into a painting, allowing my subconscious to enhance the image in ways that digital tools cannot. Currently, I primarily use encaustic painting, an ancient technique employed by the Greeks and Romans, which involves a mixture of bee’s wax, dammar, and pigments. This method allows pigments to be illuminated from all sides, creating vibrant and lively artworks that reflect colors uniquely.
