Set in Orkney, the story follows 19-year-old Johnny Sinclair, who returns from his travels to take on a handpicked intelligence role amidst the Royal Navy's presence in Scapa Flow. While the call of duty looms over him, Johnny finds himself distracted by personal desires and an irresistible pull towards other pursuits, hinting at a conflict between his responsibilities to King and Country and his own ambitions.
