Riley Poe, a newly-turned vampire and tattoo artist, grapples with her transformation and the loss of her humanity. Her lover, Eli Dupre, is concerned for her well-being as they confront a rival named Victorian, who insists she must seek the patriarch of the vampire cult that attacked her to reclaim her soul. Journeying to a Romanian fortress, Riley must confront her deepest fears and the dark forces threatening her existence, while ultimately deciding whether to trust Eli, despite her reservations.
