Memoirs of a Holocaust survivor born in Sighet, Romania in 1924 (née Szmuk) who recounts her story of survival in the ghetto of Sighet, in Auschwitz, in forced labor camps in the area of Hamburg (Altona, Wilhelmshaven, Eidelstadt) and her transfer to Bergen-Belsen, where she was liberated by the British in April 1945, together with her sister. Their parents were murdered in Auschwitz. After the war they settled in Sweden where Hedi now works (as a psychologist) with Holocaust survivors and their offspring.
