Nel 1972 Koolhaas ha fondato l'OMA (Office for Metropolitan Architecture), il cui nome esprime chiaramente le intenzioni progettuali del team, composto da Koolhaas, Elia e Zoe Zenghelis e Madelon Vriessendorp.
