While focusing on tropical lichen biodiversity and ecology, it also includes related topics. Essential for lichenologists, it contains keys for various lichen genera. Full monographs are provided for the reinstated genus Herpothallon (29 species), and new genera Diaphorographis (2 species), Sipmaniella (1 species), Synarthothelium (2 species), and Placopyrenium (14 species, 3 varieties). Keys are included for cryptothalline species of Lecidea, the lichenicolous genus Sphaerellothecium, and species of Cryptothecia and Stirtonia in Thailand. The genus Trypetheliopsis is reestablished for Musaespora, with relevant combinations made. Many papers describe new species from genera such as Bacidia, Buellia, Caloplaca, and others. Notably, a newly described Thelopsis is suggested to be intermediate between it and Topelia, indicating a potential unification of these genera. Floristic studies cover lichens from diverse regions, including Montenegro, Korea, Japan, and Namibia, with new synonymies and combinations. One paper discusses lichens and global warming, while three phylogenetic studies examine lichen groups with cyanobacteria and propose a systematic placement for the enigmatic genus Tylophoron.
