Das Institut offers a richly illustrated overview of its productions, exhibitions, and collaborations from the past three years, presented in a business report format. Founded in New York in 2007 by Kerstin Brätsch and Adele Röder, it serves as a conceptual free space for independent artistic exploration, promoting their works outside the confines of their individual practices. With a self-reflective and ironic tone, the duo employs sharp wit to address self-marketing strategies. The dynamic artistic exchange between Brätsch and Röder is detailed in this artist's book, where each artist integrates her works into the agency for reinterpretation by the other. The book candidly reveals sources of inspiration, costs, sales revenue, and exhibition techniques. What initially appears as an exaggerated blend of art, knitwear, role play, and marketing simultaneously critiques the art scene while advocating for artistic experimentation and the possibilities of painting. The Institut has participated in notable exhibitions, including the group show at Kunsthalle Zürich and the 54th Venice Biennial. This publication coincides with solo exhibitions at Parc Saint Léger, Kölnischer Kunstverein, and Kunsthalle Zürich, and is part of a series of artists' projects edited by Christoph Keller.
