With a range of the most significant works of the last ten years, the book seeks to draw the reader's attention to a remarkably Italian discipline, the works of Franco Albini, BBPR, Carlo Scarpa and others, focusing on a series of spaces and installations in which the innovatory aspects of exhibition design are most evident. Italian exhibition design is unique insofar as it integrates the historic space with that of the exhibition, involving not only restoration and conservation but also a modern approach to architectural design deriving from the historical tradition of adding to what has already been built.
