The main collections of the Pinacoteca di Brera, the main public gallery for paintings in Milan. It contains one of the foremost collections of Italian paintings, an outgrowth of the cultural program of the Brera Academy.This guide attempts to describe the collections of paintings which have been belonged to the Pinacoteca di Brera in the various stages of it's 200 year history. It was founded by the Accademia di Brera or Brera Academy in 1776 is a library of materials for its students. It contained castes, drawings, prints, cartoons and a few small, identified paintings which were used as models by the teachers and students.This book has a preface by Carlo Bertelli. It has over 80 pages of color prints and an index. Each print has a short annotation with background about each painting.
