The Centre Pompidou revisits the major works of the 20th century with a large exhibition dedicated to Francis Bacon. "Bacon en toutes lettres" brings together paintings from 1971, the year of his retrospective at the Grand Palais, to his last works in 1992. The exhibition focuses on the works created by Bacon during the last two decades of his career. It features sixty paintings (including 12 triptychs, as well as a series of portraits and self-portraits) from the most important private and public collections. From 1971 to 1992, the period leading up to the painter's death, his painting is characterized by simplification and intensification. His colors acquire a new depth, using an unprecedented chromatic range of yellow, pink, and saturated orange. The album serves as a beautiful memento of the exhibition, condensing the visit with a selection of essential works accompanied by short texts.
