The beginning of the new millennium also marks a significant change in Finland's political system. On March 1, 2000 a new Constitution will come into force. This book is being published as a result of the new Constitution. It focuses attention on the constitutional reform and its preparation. It also describes in words and pictures the history of the Finnish Parliament as well as its present day activities and international cooperation. A separate chapter is devoted to the symbol of democracy, the granite Parliament House which was completed in 1931. The book is being published in 7 languages.
