The Van Gogh Museum and EurEducation Foundation present a comic book about the life of the famous painter: Vincent van Gogh: The struggle of an artist. Comic book artist Marc Verhaegen, known from such work as Suske and Wiske, created this comic book about the tempestuous life of Van Gogh, together with scenario writer Jan Kragt. In the past, they successfully portrayed The life of Michiel de Ruyter and The Legend of the Flying Dutchman. With the album about Vincent van Gogh, the Van Gogh Museum and EurEducation Foundation are helping young people to get to know one of the Netherlands’ most famous artists in a contemporary, easily accessible manner.In the comic book, Vincent van Gogh is followed as he searches for his calling as an artist. What drove him, what did he encounter along the way, and in particular: how did he develop into one of the most famous artists of his generation? In the comic book, he travels through the Netherlands and France and tells about his passion and yearning as well as sharing his loneliness and fears. Besides Vincent, his brother Theo, his friends and his family also play a large role in the story. Especially for observant readers, all sorts of well-known drawings and paintings have been ingeniously woven into the story
