The book explores how daily conflicts, such as those with parents, are influenced by distant images, symbols, and events from our past, often without our awareness. It argues that by transferring personal experiences into the public sphere, we can better understand otherwise perplexing historical events. Additionally, it traces the evolution of the symbol of conception in Catholic culture and the representation of marriage, from Giotto's depictions to Tiepolo's portrayal of the solitary mother.
