Fiji's imminent independence has offered journalist Laura Harrington a terrific opportunity: in returning to the South Seas where she was born, not only will she be able to meet up with charismatic Jack Renfrey who she met a year earlier in London, but also to meet the father she has not seen since she was evacuated ahead if the Japanese invasion. Most of all, Laura hopes to discover the facts behind her mothers death, two years after the evacuation.
