No book on Glasgow and the West of Scotland dialect can ever be complete. If ever such a book was written, it would mean the language was dead or, at the very least, static. I don't believe that this will ever be the case. on the contrary, this dialect, affectionately referred to as the patter, is one of the most colourful and imaginative to be found anywhere and is developing with every new generation. Possibly, its greatest attractions lie in its humour and the changing emphasis of words and phrases when found in a variety of situations. This book has been written in such a way that everyday situations can be highlighted and the patter, put into context, can be enjoyed to its fullest.
