Meer over het boek

Salvador Dalí (Figueras, 1904 - Torre-Galatea, 1989) was a painter, artist, creator of objects, writer, and filmmaker, known to the public as one of the major representatives of surrealism. His encounters with Buñuel, Lorca, Picasso, and Breton mark significant stages in Dalí's career. The film Un chien andalou, created with Buñuel, signifies his official entry into the group of Parisian surrealists, where he meets Gala, the wife of Éluard, who becomes his companion and muse. The relationship between this eclectic and provocative artist and the Parisian surrealists gradually becomes strained from 1934 until the break with Breton five years later. Nevertheless, Dalí's art is rooted in surrealist aesthetics, retaining a taste for displacement, humor, and imagination.
