A reference grammar aimed at 10-14 year-olds (approximately Key stages 2 and 3 in England and Wales, and top level C, and levels D and E in Scotland). Chambers School Grammar complements Chambers School Dictionary and Chambers School Thesaurus, and responds to the language requirements outlined in the National Curriculum for England and Wales and the Scottish Office Curriculum and Assessment in Scotland National Guidelines. The main focus in the text is a descriptive grammar of English, with clear advice, and succinct information on how language is constructed. As well as giving help with formal aspects of grammar and writing, Chambers School Grammar uniquely includes information (in a series of panel entries) on 'style', looking at how grammatical features can be used to create particular effects in writing.
