The Upstream series is tailored for students from absolute beginner to intermediate levels, comprising five modules that systematically develop listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Each Student’s Book and Workbook is designed for approximately 60 to 80 hours of classroom instruction. The Workbooks feature sections on Vocabulary, Grammar, Communication, Reading, Listening, and Writing, offering a variety of engaging tasks and useful exercises, along with tapescripts for listening activities. Teacher’s Books provide detailed teaching notes, optional activity ideas, and a complete answer key for the exercises. Test Booklets include photocopiable assessment tests, along with mid-year and exit tests to track student progress. Key features include theme-based units from diverse sources, cross-cultural and cross-curricular topics, and a systematic approach to developing all four language skills through engaging tasks. Lexical exercises focus on essential vocabulary, including collocations, everyday English, phrasal verbs, and word formation. Grammar sections address major grammatical areas, supplemented by a Grammar Reference Section. Composition analysis and writing practice cover various types of writing with full models, while a wide range of speaking activities is also included.
