This book is the first installment in a new series called "Deutsch--Young German Photography", which presents work by up-and-coming German photographers. The series' underlying concept is quite simple--with each volume a talented young photographer is given the opportunity to present their work in book form. This first volume introduces the unusual work of Billy & Hells, a duo who have been working together since 1989. Billy & Hells run a joint studio in Berlin and have already achieved a surprising degree of success in the worlds of fashion and portrait photography. Their innovative and unorthodox images manage to combine aesthetic beauty and wit while rewriting the rules about what photography can and cannot be and do. Their work is presented here in an elegantly designed book which features color reproductions of their work, as well as texts that introduce the photographers and their art.
