Abstract PLM concepts are nowadays not sufficiently applied in Small- and Medium-sized Enterprises (SME) due to the affordability of PLM-Solutions. The approach proposed in this work in order to cope with these shortcomings is denoted Engineering Networks (EN). EN defines concepts for a new extended object-oriented metamodel, which is able to better support the modeling and management of multidisciplinary product data, as well as related flexible and variant-rich engineering processes.
