With his stunning looks and swashbuckling onscreen panache, Errol Flynn epitomized the quintessential movie star. However, his manicured Hollywood persona masked a life marked by binge drinking, brawling, and womanizing, solidifying his status as a film legend. In this incisive study, bestselling biographer David Bret delves into Flynn's life and loves. His natural charisma and athleticism made him the heartthrob of films like Captain Blood and The Adventures of Robin Hood, yet he was perpetually surrounded by controversy. Bret uncovers extraordinary revelations about Flynn's predilection for underage girls, young men, heavy drinking, and drug use, alongside his controversial history as a slave trader in New Guinea, his involvement in the Spanish Civil War, and his support for Castro. This compelling portrait captures the essence of the original action-adventure star, who experienced more in his fifty years than many of his contemporaries. Flynn remains an unmatched film icon of the 20th century. As 2009 marks the anniversary of his tragic death, this book serves as an excellent tribute to an extraordinary actor. David Bret, a leading celebrity biographer, has penned acclaimed works on figures like Marlene Dietrich and Freddie Mercury and resides in Yorkshire.
