Detective Ellie Reeves - 9: The Sleeping Girls

Meer over het boek

The young girl appeared innocent, like a sleeping angel, lying on white sheets with golden hair and pale lips. Her distraught mother laments, “My baby, she’s dead.” When fifteen-year-old Kelsey Tiller goes missing from her bedroom, Detective Ellie Reeves rushes to her parents, who insist Kelsey had no reason to run away, as she was excited about shopping for her homecoming dress. However, neighbors report seeing Kelsey with a secret boyfriend, raising questions about what she shared with her family. Determined to find the boyfriend, Ellie interviews Kelsey’s friends and teachers. Just as she makes progress, devastating news arrives: Kelsey’s parents receive a photo of their daughter’s lifeless body, posed eerily like a teenage girl murdered a decade earlier. The killer from that case, Darnell, has just been released from prison, igniting Ellie’s fears that he may have struck again. As Ellie races to uncover the truth, Kelsey’s best friend Ruby is abducted, and Darnell has an unbreakable alibi. Haunted by Kelsey’s image, Ellie realizes she must act alone when she discovers a team member is withholding crucial information. Is she facing a copycat killer, or is the threat closer than she thinks? This gripping crime thriller will keep you breathless as you turn the pages!
