Studies in Jazz - 6: Benny Goodman

Meer over het boek

This massive book recounts Benny Goodman's unparalleled career in minute detail chronologically up to and after his death in 1986. Meticulously researched with Goodman's participation, the book documents his recording dates, radio and television broadcasts, motion pictures, and public and private performances, citing their availability on record and audio- and videotape. Indexes of more than 1,900 tune titles (with composers) and more than 1,400 performers, together with indexes of Goodman's arrangers, films, recording groups, and transcriptions, pinpoint thousands of extant Goodman performances, many previously undisclosed. Profusely illustrated. Hitherto unpublished photographs show Goodman in his last recording session and in his final concert.
