The Guinness Book of More Military Blunders

Meer over het boek

From ancient times military history has been marked as much by misjudgments and incompetence as by gallantry and glory. Such blunders have sometimes ended in tragedy; sometimes in farce-and sometimes they have ended in triumph, despite all odds. More Military Blunders is a fascinating and enjoyable collection of near misses and huge disasters. Geoffrey Regan not only recounts some of the most staggering stories, but also highlights the kinds of difficulties that can lead to a military catastrophe. His anecdotes encompass every aspect of warfare from friendly fire to amphibious operations to meddling politicians and lack of cooperation-battles include the Kasserine Pass and Hurtgen Forest. Incorporating 50 fascinating illustrations, the entertaining and informative More Military Blunders will appeal to the military buff and general reader alike.
