    Takahashi begon zijn carrière als mangaka in 1982, met vroege werken als Tokiō no Tsuma en Tennenshokudanji Buray die de basis legden voor zijn kenmerkende stijl. Hoewel zijn eerste creaties veelbelovend waren, katapulteerde de lancering van Yu-Gi-Oh! in 1996 hem naar internationale faam. Dit baanbrekende werk verstevigde zijn nalatenschap en toonde zijn innovatieve benadering van verhalen vertellen.
