Zwischen 1920 und 1965 fotografierte der amerikanische Fotograf Nickolas Muray die Stars und Sternchen der amerikanischen Theater-, Tanz- und Filmgeschichte, darunter Martha Graham, Marlene Dietrich und Marilyn Monroe, aber auch Berühmtheiten wie Claude Monet und Frida Kahlo – ein großartiges Fotobuch, das spannende Geschichten zu erzählen hat. Jahrhunderts. 1913 ließ er sich in New York nieder, wo er schnell als Fotograf Fuß fasste. Für Magazine wie Vanity Fair, Vogue oder das Time Magazin fotografierte er weltbekannte Stars aus Tanz, Theater und Film. Bedingt durch die Weltwirtschaftskrise konzentrierte er sich seit den 1930er-Jahren auf Produktwerbung und publizierte 1931 das erste auf einer Farbfotografie basierende Zeitschriftencover.
