The most magnificent and complete atlas of the Early Modern period, the Atlas Maior by Dutch publisher Joan Blaeu, is one of the most beautiful atlases of the Baroque era. This facsimile edition in Latin, originating from the Austrian National Library, features several fold-out maps. The hand-colored copy was once owned by Prince Eugene of Savoy and is distinguished by its unique provenance as one of the few gilded editions. Quotations and travel impressions from notable figures, such as Benjamin Franklin, enhance the historical and political significance of individual maps.

In this catalogue almost 340 Netherlandish globes, made before 1850, are described at length. Among other aspects, the sphere itself, the inscriptions, the cartography and its mounting receive attention. What is more, the descriptions are illustrated with some 80 photographs, of which 9 are in colour.
