Henry James, an influential Anglo-American novelist of the late 19th century, explored character perspectives in his works, likening his style to impressionist painting. Born into a literary family, he was the son of a clergyman and brother to philosopher William James. Although he spent his early years in the United States, he became a British citizen in 1915.
