Los ensayos que componen este libro estudian la presencia del mito en diferentes textos y sugieren reflexiones a partir de los materiales literarios y artísticos en los que se inscriben los mitos prehispánicos. Todos ellos trabajan con una idea no reductiva de mito, que no lo limita a los relatos, sino que considera la presencia de los mismos en relación con las cosmogonías o las cosmovisiones, las actitudes filosóficas y de pensamiento, la interacción con el mundo y hasta las subjetividades.
