It critiques how the narrative of revitalization often masks broader economic and social implications, shedding light on the experiences and challenges faced by women in this context. Through this lens, it challenges conventional views of urban development and ownership, offering a critical analysis of the intersection between gender and urban policy.

Wir begleiten die Autorin auf ihren Reisen nach Toronto, New York, London und Paris, wo sie den Mythen und Lügen der neuen Krise der Städte auf den Grund geht und dabei deutlich macht, dass die gewaltvolle Verdrängung eng mit Klassismus, Rassismus und Sexismus verbunden und eine Fortsetzung des kolonialen Projekts ist. Doch: Steigende Mieten, Zwangsräumungen, zunehmende Polizeipräsenz und zerfallende Communitys sind nicht unumgänglich und Widerstand lohnt sich. Kern tritt für eine dekoloniale, feministische und queere Praxis der Anti-Gentrifizierung ein, die neben dem Recht auf Stadt für alle auch die Rückgabe von Land und Entschädigungen für Vertriebene fordert.
