Chae Strathie is een bekroonde kinderboekenauteur en journalist, wiens vormende jaren in een klein dorp omgeven door een Schots bos waarschijnlijk zijn fantasie hebben gevormd. Zijn eerste poging tot professioneel schrijven omvatte het maken van een Star Wars-stripboek op de tere leeftijd van zeven jaar. Hij woont momenteel in Dundee bij zijn katten en een eerbiedwaardige goudvis.
