Hilda Graef Volgorde van de boeken

Hilda Graef, van Duitse afkomst met Joodse en protestantse voorouders, vond haar weg naar de Katholieke Kerk via de geschriften van Thomas van Aquino, Sint Johannes van het Kruis en G.K. Chesterton. Tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog vluchtte Graef naar Londen om aan de dreiging van het nazisme te ontsnappen. Schrijvend vanuit een zolderkamer die regelmatig door bommen werd geschud, ontwikkelde ze een uniek perspectief gevormd door haar ervaringen. Ze verhuisde later naar Oxford, waar haar academische bezigheden werden voortgezet.
