Jakob Glatz übernahm 2002 das Familienunternehmen Glatz GmbH in vierter Generation, das im Handel und in der Produktion von Nahrungsmitteln tätig ist. 2016 konnte die nahe Porto gelegene Sardinenfabrik „Pinhais“ erworben und vor dem endgültigen Schließen bewahrt werden. Mit Nuri ist die Familie des Unternehmers seit 80 Jahren und drei Generationen verbunden. Seit dem Neustart konnte die traditionelle Produktionsmethode erhalten und die Marke Nuri gleichzeitig international (in 37 Ländern) bekannt gemacht werden.
