Shin'ichi Suzuki

    Shinichi Suzuki was een invloedrijke pedagoog in de muziekeducatie voor kinderen die een wereldwijd erkende methode voor muziekonderwijs ontwikkelde. Zijn filosofie was gebaseerd op de overtuiging dat alle kinderen de gave bezitten om goed te leren, vooral in de juiste omgeving. Hij benadrukte de ontwikkeling van het hart en de vorming van karakter bij muziekstudenten door middel van hun opleiding. Suzuki's benadering, die traditionele toelatingseisen en de leeftijd van studenten ter discussie stelde, maakte klassieke muziek toegankelijk voor jong talent en voedde vele getalenteerde violisten op.
