Dennis Wheatley

    Dennis Wheatley was een Engelse auteur, bekend om zijn stijlvolle thrillers en occulte romans, waarmee hij in de jaren 50 en 60 een van 's werelds bestverkopende schrijvers werd. Zijn plots verweefden vaak fictieve personages met echte historische gebeurtenissen en figuren, van de Franse Revolutie tot de Tweede Wereldoorlog, en doken in spionage, satanisme en magie. Wheatley experimenteerde met vertelvormen, met name door detectivezaken te creëren die werden gepresenteerd als dossier met bewijsmateriaal dat de lezer moest oplossen.
