Translated from the Italian, this book describes Tarquinia (at one time, Corneto Tarquinia), "one of the most ancient and powerful cities of Etruria and its territory." This book provides an historical account of the town as well as many pictures of artifacts, buildings and art from Tarquinia. Also included is a map of the "Painted Tombs of the Necropolis of Monterozzi." Many of the images of the artifacts are quite close up and provide much detail for the historian, archaeologist, or artist who takes interest.
