Joy Adamsonová patrí k pionierom, no nemá nič spoločné s voľakedajšími americkým pioniermi, čo na vozoch pokrytých plachtovinou a ťahaných štvorzáprahom prichádzali do divočiny klčovať lesy – hoci aj ona strávila väčšiu časť života v nehostinnej divočine.
