A girl's moving tale of growing up among hippies without her real father or mother. She is Sarajean, 5, who lives with Jimmy, a heroin-addicted Vietnam veteran, and his alternating girlfriends. She tells her story without rancor, not knowing any other life, though she does long for a steady mother. One day she runs off to find her identity and that's when Jimmy rises to the occasion.
