This work focuses on Irish history from the early 19th century to 1921. Topics include: rural life before 1845; the growth of Belfast, its linen and shipbuilding industries; unionism and nationalism; the Gaelic revival; outbreak of war 1914; and the Easter Rising.

This resource has been developed to address A2 2 Option 4: 'Partition of Ireland 1900-25' of the CCEA specification. Dr Rees guides the students through this formative period, covering the role and actions of unionists, nationalists and the British government.
