A thought-provoking tale about segregation and forbidden friendship. A puppy called Max and a kitten called Mia become friends and play together, but they live in a city that segregates cats and dogs. Cats have the night and dogs have the day. They are constantly told by their parents that they are too different and can't play together. However, they break the rules and meet in secret every sunrise and sunset, until one day, they are caught. A wall is built to keep them apart. They still meet but are divided by the wall. They can still talk to each other but they can no longer play together. It's not enough for them and they run away together. They play, they talk, they have fun. Until a storm comes and they become trapped. Mia meows, and Max howls, but no one can hear them. Together, they meowl, and this time they are heard. Mia's mum and Max's dad rush to find them but they can only save them by working together. Safely back home, the cats and dogs realise how unfair their rules are and the wall is torn down. From that day on, cats and dogs live together and play together in the city of Up. Cats and dogs are not that different after all.
