A sad young woman boards a train in Moscow. Bound for Mongolia, she's trying to leave a broken relationship as far behind her as she can. Wanting to be alone, she chooses an empty compartment - No 6. Her solitude is soon shattered by the arrival of a fellow passenger: Vadim Nikolayevich Ivanov, a grizzled, opinionated and foul-mouthed ex-soldier, 'a cauliflower-eared man in a black workingman's overcoat and a white ermine hat'. Vadim fills the compartment with his long and colourful stories, recounting his sexual conquests and violent fights in lurid detail. At first, the young woman is not so much shocked as disgusted by him, and she stands up to him, throwing a boot at his head. But though Vadim may be crude, he isn't cruel, and he shares with her the sausage and black bread and tea he's brought for the journey, coaxing the girl out of her melancholy state. As their train cuts slowly across a wintery Russia, where 'everything is moving, snow, water, air, clouds, wind, towns, villages, people and ideas', a grudging kind of companionship grows between the two inhabitants of Compartment No 6 and the girl realises that if she works out how to listen, Vadim's stories may just contain lessons for her. Compartment No 6 is a wickedly mischievous, darkly imaginative and completely unforgettable ride.

Román Řeka je až bolestně aktuální knihou o utečencích, jakkoliv se odehrává před 70 lety během laponské války na dalekém severu, kde Finsko od Švédska odděluje řeka Tornio. Hlavní hrdinkou románu, třináctiletá dívka, musí před ustupujícími německými vojáky převést do bezpečí za tuto řeku, která je finskou hranicí a zároveň v symbolické rovině hranicí mezi životem a smrtí, stádo krav, najít těhotnou matku a postarat se o ni. Ale ani po překročení hranice není její život jednodušší. Setkává se s neutěšenými poměry v utečeneckých táborech, s hladem, nakažlivými nemocemi, strachem, nevraživostí místních obyvatel i vyčerpáním. A během svého dlouhého putování postupně dospívá.

Bytostně finská záležitost s příměsí černého humoru, groteska vypovídající o povaze nám tolik vzdáleného národa způsobem, který leckdy šokuje, ale nikdy nefabuluje, nelže ani nepředstírá.

Další úžasná sbírka krátkých textů, plných černého humoru, překvapivých point a bohatého jazyka, který vyžívá argot a nářečí, jimiž se proslavila jedna z nejvýznamnějších současných evropských autorek.

Rosa Liksom prostřednictvím svých postav vypráví o nejrůznějších každodenních událostech a strastech, se kterými je nutno se nějakým způsobem vypořádat. Ať už je hlavním hrdinou taxikář vyprávějící hororové příběhy, profesionální pytlák marně toužící po kousku společenského uznání či muž, kterému medvěd ukradl motorovou pilu, či žena používající 11 telefonů, jednotlivé důvěrné zpovědi nadchnou svým neotřelým, dost možná i trochu absurdním pohledem na život. To vše je navíc napsané živým, autentickým jazykem a bez moralizujícího hodnocení.

Als glühende Patriotin erlebt sie den finnisch-sowjetischen Winterkrieg, wird linientreue Sozialistin, geht nach Moskau, dann nach Amerika und erlebt dort den 'süßen' Kapitalismus. Schließlich kehrt sie in ihren Heimatort zurück. Dieser Abenteuerroman ist sehr unkonventionell, minimalistisch, bereitet durch seine unterschiedlichen Perspektiven und die eigenwillige Sprache zumindest einige Anlaufschwierigkeiten, läßt dann aber nicht mehr los und hat alle Voraussetzungen, ein Kultbuch zu werden.

Vuonna 1996 ilmestynyt Kreisland on Rosa Liksomin ensimmäinen romaani. Teos on ilmestynyt myös saksaksi ja tanskaksi. Kreisland on kertomus suuresta kertomuksesta ja siitä miten siinä sitten kävi. Kreisland on kertomus peräreikää tunkkaisemmasta paikkakunnasta, Uralille ulottuvasta Suur-Suomesta ja mahtavasta maailmasta, modernin projektista, jossa mennään metsästä kaupunkiin, korvesta keskuksiin, Moskovaan ja Pittsburgiin, ja jälleen metsään. Sinne, koska kaikki menee metsään. Ellei Kreisland olisi kertomus innostumisista, se voisi olla kertomus toisiaan seuraavista pettymyksistä. Tai päinvastoin. Kreisland on kertomus Juho Gabrielista ja Impi Agafiinasta, miehestä ja naisesta.
