For Edvard Munch (1863-1944), painting was an act of self-liberation. His treatments of fear, desperation, and death still exert a powerful visual and psychological effect on modern viewers. Of all Munch's paintings, "The Scream" (1893), representing a figure tortured by horror, is the most well-known-and certainly one of the most expressive. Jeff Transit accompanies an exhibition of 26 unique works of this Canadian artist. Jeff Wall made a name for himself with a special light boxes with huge color transparencies of carefully calculated photographic images oscillating between painterly compositions and straight photography. His conceptual work brought him a special position in the art world and his images that also serve as lit objects made him famous during the last three decades. The book accompanies an exhibition at Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden. It includes texts by art historians Ulrich Bischoff, Mathias Wagner, Thomas Weski, and Laszlo Glozer.

Peter Krauskopf, born in Leipzig in 1966, studied at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst and was a master student of Arno Rink. Initially focused on classical landscape painting, his work now explores the boundary between representational and abstract art, capturing moments in nature rather than specific places. Light plays a crucial role in his evocative paintings.

Troubled Waters ist der Titel einer 15-teiligen Fotoserie von William Eggleston, einem der profiliertesten Fotografen der Gegenwart. Neben Egglestons Arbeit präsentiert das Buch elf weitere fotografische „Stillleben“. Es sind Fotoarbeiten beziehungsweise Serien, die subjektiv Orte, Räume und Situationen des Alltags darstellen und dabei den fotografischen Blick selbst und dessen Bezug zur Realität zum Thema haben. Das historische Genre Stillleben wird neu interpretiert, wenn die Fotografie als Medium innovative und auch ungewohnte „Bilder“ in der Linse zur Anschauung bringt.
