    Erasmus van Rotterdam was een Nederlandse Renaissance humanist en theoloog die in puur Latijn schreef. Zijn academische werk aan het Nieuwe Testament beïnvloedde zowel de Reformatie als de Contrareformatie aanzienlijk.
