Here in Europe we consider we have the right, regardless of where we live, to a good life in the occupation and manner of our choice and/or our forefathers. We Finns have inherited vast forests in the north, so we harvest our wood just as our more southerly neighbours harvest their olives, oranges or grapes. Finland is proud of the highly advanced forest industry it has developed not at the expense of, but with the help of its forests. Finland's well-being depends on the well-being of its forests. Wherever we look in Europe, we see signs of them - our Finnish forests.
