Dnes již klasický Cantalamessův text nás jednoduchým a přitom hlubokým způsobem uvádí do tajemství eucharistie – „svátosti lásky“, jak o ní mluví sv. Tomáš Akvinský nebo sv. Jan Pavel II. Autor představuje tajemství Večeře Páně ve třech základních rozměrech. V biblickém – hostina Krista, Božího Beránka, je vrcholem dějin spásy.
