      Todd Pearson, environmental activist and struggling writer, gets in over his head after blocking a major freeway in Southern California with a tree, a concrete block and a large anti-nuke banner. The political statement receives national attention and Todd flees the country in fear of landing in prison. His soul-searching journey to Europe brings him in touch with old friends from the radical left and with an unplanned romantic encounter. Pearson finds himself getting deeper into trouble with European and American state officials and unsure whether he can return to the US. He struggles between his longing for adventure and escape and with hi deep desire to return home.
