    Aubrey Beardsley was een Engelse illustrator en auteur wiens zwart-wit tekeningen, beïnvloed door Japanse houtsneden, het groteske, decadente en erotische benadrukten. Als vooraanstaand figuur van de Esthetische beweging, bepleitte hij kunst omwille van de kunst.
