Miroslav Tichy's photographic work is characterized by its raw, unconventional approach and a deeply personal vision. After experiencing significant personal hardship, he began creating cameras from salvaged materials like tin cans and toilet paper rolls, using lenses from eyeglasses. His subjects were drawn from the streets and private spaces of his town, resulting in images that are often grainy, overexposed, and possess a haunting, intimate quality. Despite a life lived outside the mainstream art world, Tichy's distinctive aesthetic eventually gained international acclaim, highlighting his unique perspective and resourceful artistic practice.
