Infektionen bei chirurgischen Eingriffen und Wundverschlüssen stellen nach wie vor ein großes Problem im Gesundheitswesen dar. Um dieses Problem anzugehen, haben die Forscher antibakterielle, nicht resorbierbare, geflochtene Seidennähte mit in situ abgeschiedenen AgNPs entwickelt und ihre Wirksamkeit bei der Beseitigung von S. aureus- und S. mutans-Infektionen untersucht.Methoden: Die geflochtenen Seidennähte wurden durch ein einfaches und effizientes In-situ-Photoreduktionsverfahren modifiziert, was zu einer gleichmäßigen Verteilung von AgNPs entlang der Nahtoberfläche führte. Die synthetisierten AgNPs wurden mittels SEM, DLS und FTIR charakterisiert, was ihre erfolgreiche Integration in die Seidenfäden bestätigte. Die antibakterielle Aktivität des mit Nanopartikeln beschichteten Nahtmaterials wurde mit unbeschichtetem, geflochtenem Seidennahtmaterial durch In-vitro-Tests sowohl gegen S. aureus als auch S. mutans verglichen und bewertet.Schlussfolgerung: Die Beschichtung von Seidenfäden mit AgNPs verlieh dem chirurgischen Nahtmaterial eine signifikante und wirksame antibakterielle Kapazität, wobei diese Aktivität über einen Zeitraum von 7 Tagen aufrechterhalten wurde. Dies deutet darauf hin, dass mit AgNPs-in-situ-Photoreduktion beschichtetes Nahtmaterial das Potenzial hat, Infektionen mit S. aureus und S. mutans wirksam zu bekämpfen.
